St. Vincent de Paul

The Saint Vincent de Paul Society is the Nationwide Non-Profit charitable Organization serving the poor around the world. The Saint Vincent de Paul Society Conference at our Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church responds to the needs of the poor, the hungry, the sick and the homeless. We receive gifts from our generous family of donors at STA and distribute them to those in need. Our SVdP conference at our Saint Thomas Aquinas parish has 33 wonderful compassion volunteers, men and women, who give their time to work at the food pantry, financial desk, and packing snack for poverty students.

Our Officers:

President: Lien Tran
Vice President: Jim Boczarski
Treasure: Gerard Donlon
General Secretary: Magaret Pitole
Corresponding Secretary: Judy Zellinger
Communication Secretary: Patty Ritter
Coordinators Schedule Specialist: Fran Capolupo and Cathy Dempsey

Our Contact:

727- 372-8600 Ext. 142. Email: svdp@stanpr.org

Our funding comes from all forms of generosity donations: through our monthly collection by all doors outside our church, gift checks, dropping food in our narthex/pantry/front office.

To support our finance, check can be made to “SVDP at St. Thomas Aquinas Conference 062.”

Our Service:

We serve and distribute food to the families in needed who live in our neighbors or parishioners who needs our help.

  • Our Food Pantry is open 2 days a week on Monday and Thursday 9:30-11:00 am and 1:30-3:00 pm, we feed around 100 families each moth with variety food.
  • Our Financial Assistant team works 3 days a week by maintaining the call in line (727-372-8600 ext. 142). We serve and help families with financial hardships like paying utility bills, gas card, bus pass, jobs search, and other resources by appointment only.
  • Our SVdP team also partners with other organization provide weekend snack to 50 Gulf Middle school students (Pack and Sack)

For families to receive our help and service they need to live in our area or be a parishioner.

Our Spiritual Support:

The SVdP society team at Saint Thomas Aquinas embraces the spiritual by praying and words out the love of God throughout our attitude within our service and communication. We pray each time we serve, we check with people about their need, we encourage them to speak and pray with God. We also pray with the families come to our door; and hearty, we proclaim God presence and HIS glory through our doing and speaking.

We bring our faith in God to share with families when we do the home visit. We educate people about the work we do in the name of the Lord. We also take prayer request while we meet people and add it on our pray list, then we pray for them at our meeting. (we hold meeting twice a month)

Overall, our mission is serving the poor as serving the Lord and through our service we share the Infinite and unconditional love of God with others.

And the last thing our SVdP team would like everyone to know that our STA parish is a most welcome, loving, caring and generosity parish. Whatever we ask we receive. And if you are the thinking about joining our STA parish and us, please do, you will find yourself comfort joyfully merge in.
