Prayers of the Faithful (Version 1: Fr. George’s funerals)

Prayers of the Faithful

(Version 1: Fr. George’s funerals)

Presider: My dear friends, Jesus Christ is risen from the dead and sits at the right hand of the Father, where he intercedes for his church.  We now place before him our needs and the needs of all our brothers and sisters.

Reader: Our response will be Lord hear our prayer.

For N.__________ who in baptism was given the pledge of eternal life, that he/she may now be admitted to the company of the saints.  We pray…  R. Lord hear our prayer.

For our deceased relatives and friends, and for all who have helped us, that they may have the reward of their goodness.  We pray…  R. Lord hear our prayer.

For all who are ill, that they may heal through God’s grace.  We pray…  R. Lord hear our prayer.

For all of us assembled here to worship in faith, that we may be gathered together again in God’s kingdom.  We pray…  R. Lord hear our prayer.

For the caregivers to the sick and the dying: the physicians, nurses, nursing assistants, the technicians, and particularly the family members who go the extra mile day after day in loving service to those they cherish.  We pray…  R. Lord hear our prayer.

For the family and friends of N.__________ who seek comfort and consolation. Heal their pain and dispel the darkness of doubt that comes from grief.  We pray…  R. Lord hear our prayer.

For those special intentions that we hold in the privacy of our hearts.  We pray…  R. Lord hear our prayer.

Presider: Lord God of justice and mercy, thank you for hearing our prayers. Give our beloved dead the reward of their labors and grant us your consolation in our loss. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
