The Saint Thomas Bus Ministry provides a convenient way for parishioners who lack transportation to attend Mass. There is no charge for the service.
Using a 12 passenger mini-bus, rides are provided to and from the Saturday 4 PM Mass and the Sunday 8:30 AM Mass.
Parishioners who are able to get on and off the bus on their own, or with some gentle assistance are able to be accommodated, including those who use a walker.
Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate wheel chairs due to the lack of a lift.
Depending on the number of people on the schedule and their location, passengers could be on the bus up to 45 minutes. The Sunday bus usually makes its first pickup about 7:30 AM and the Saturday bus about 2:45 PM in order to arrive at Mass 15 minutes ahead of time.
To participate in this ministry, contact the Bus Program Coordinator listed below. The Diocese of St. Petersburg requires riders to complete a Release Form which will be provided to you once you apply to ride the bus.
You can contact the Bus Program Coordinator, Bill Humphrey, by calling 727 808-4483.
We are able to provide this service to our parishioners because we have a number of dedicated volunteer drivers who donate their time to drive the bus on Saturdays and Sundays. No special license is required – just a regular Driver’s License. If you feel God might be calling you to this important ministry, please call Bill Humphrey at 727-808-4483
Drivers are required by the Diocese of St. Petersburg to undergo a fingerprint and background check and to complete the Safe Environment for Vulnerable Adults Training program prior to driving.
Please call the Bus Program Coordinator at the number above to discuss your interest.
